Sexuality and Identity

Sexuality is an identity of human being. Without this, there is no identification nor anybody has to be distinguished. Sexuality as defined by Mr. Jimmy John (blogger) and I quote “Sexuality. The term sexuality refers to the identities we construct based on our sexual conduct...” he also down to an idea of John Gagnon (Pioneering sociologist of Human Sexuality) that “A sexual script is a set of ideas and practices that determine who we have sex with, what is considered sex, how often, and why we have sex...”.

Sexual Identity is an identity that is organized by the gender of the person to whom we are sexually attracted to. Apparently, if you are attracted with opposite sex you are considered to be “heterosexual” otherwise, if you are attracted with the same sex you are considered to be “ homosexual”. However, if you are attracted to both you are said to be bi sexual.

The issue arises about how does the sexual behavior affect your identity. At the top we said that sexuality is an identity, therefore your identity is directly proportional to your sexuality and vice versa. Your identity changes while your sexual behavior also changed (sexuality doesn’t change, for me it is just sexual behavior do so).

So, I conclude that if you want to have a good identity or you want to respect by others, do not change your sexual behavior, if you born as a man be man in your sexual behavior – you are intended to be with your opposite sex (Female), woman should do this protocol also, and not let your self to fall in the so called “Gay” or “Lesbian”.
